leh ladakh the land of high passes  is trans -himalaya zone marking the boundary between the peaks of the western himalaya and the vast tibetan plateau.the main himalaya range is also known as himadri .at its western end it divides kashmir and himachal pradesh from ladakh and zanskar ,from here the mountains sweep across to the baralacha range in himachal pradesh ,before the main himalayan range  merges with the parvati range and continues across the kinnaur kailash range .the highest peak in this part of the himalaya are kun 7077m.

 ladakh hiking treks .spituk to markh valley and hemis via the kongmaru. the trek from gompa follows the jingchen valley to the ganda la 4920m.at least one rest day  should be included before crossing the pass.thereon,it is a steady descent  to the markha valley and the village of skiu.it is a further stage to markh village ,before ascending to the yak grazing pastures at nimaling .above the camp is the impressive peak of kangyaze 6400m.the kongmaru la 5030m is the highest pass on the trek  and affords great views ,south to zanskar range .and north to the ladakh range.after crossing.

The Trek Ladakh  options range from short, day-long walks up and down mountain slopes to visit monuments and monastic settlements or to enjoy the sheer beauty of the lunar landscape,  the width of the range varies from some 200to 300 km and separates the indian subcontinent from chinese centre asia and tibetan plateau to the north .further more the himalaya has a profound effect on the indian moonsoon and provides a biological barrier between india and rest of the northern asia .the range encompasses three more or less parallei mountain .
